About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Turlock, CA, Cafe Rome is a charming coffee shop and café that has quickly become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. This cozy neighborhood gem at 3807 Crowell Rd expertly blends a passion for quality coffee and delightful treats with a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both intimate and lively.

One of the standout features of Cafe Rome is their exceptional coffee lineup, with connoisseurs raving about the Mazapan latte. As Robert Arndt puts it, it’s “the most amazing latte” he’s ever had, rivaling offerings from well-known national chains. The rich, smooth infusion of Mazapan flavor creates a truly indulgent experience that awakens the senses with every sip. For those who prefer a more classic approach, their hand-dripped coffee arrives in an elegant presentation, giving every cup a touch of ceremony and care, as reflected in Mark Soderstrom’s visit where the coffee was served “on a silver platter.”

Beyond coffee, Cafe Rome also delights with its selection of desserts and light meals. The crepes, in particular, have received high praise—from Cass Nicoya’s enjoyed cinnamon dolce with strawberries to Sona Noroozi’s caramel crepe that offered “a perfect balance of sweetness.” Each crepe is crafted with care, featuring delicate textures and just the right amount of luscious filling that makes each bite memorable. Pairing these delectable treats with their strong, aromatic Persian tea, served in a charming tea set, makes for a unique offering—something German Soria especially recommends for tea aficionados seeking a bold and flavorful experience.

The café’s atmosphere effortlessly blends a casual, friendly vibe with a sense of community. Customers consistently highlight the warm and welcoming staff who create a relaxed and chill environment complemented by pleasant background music. The setting is “super cute,” as Cass notes, making it an ideal place for a relaxed date night or a favorite spot to unwind with friends. While the space is on the cozier side, it buzzes with life without ever feeling crowded, offering that perfect blend of intimate comfort and vibrant local energy.

If there’s one constructive note, it’s the desire for more filling vegetarian options voiced by long-time patrons like German, who appreciates the menu but hopes for expanded vegetarian dishes. This speaks to Cafe Rome’s commitment to evolving with their community’s tastes and needs.

Whether you’re craving a meticulously crafted latte, a delicate and flavorful crepe, or a large pot of robust Persian tea, Cafe Rome delivers an experience that nourishes both body and soul. It’s not just a coffee stop—it’s a welcoming corner of Turlock where quality, community, and culinary craftsmanship come together beautifully.

For those exploring Turlock or seeking a new local favorite, Cafe Rome stands out as a must-visit destination that leaves a lasting impression long after the last sip or bite.

I love this place. Though I would come more often if they had more filling vegetarian options. If you are a fan of strong tea I recommend the persian tea. It’s $4 for a lot of tea in a fancy tea set. I don’t come often for the food but the tea is great. I was worried about the new location but it is nice. It was nice and busy when I went, it feels like a nice community here :-)! That’s always a plus

Went there last night with hubby and the crepes were so delicious! I got a cinnamon dolce with strawberries, paid $9, well worth it. The ladies are friendly, the place is super cute. Will definitely be going back

the most amazing latte I have ever had...do note I have gone to many different brand name coffee houses. This one is on point with the Mazapan latte. The crepes desert is on point as well excellent. Awesome staff very friendly and chill atmosphere and music. Prices super fair with the quality.

Traveling through, I found this highly rated on Google maps and tried it. It was slightly confusing as the sign outside and map name didn’t match, but I’m so glad I persisted. Walking in it’s a small specialty market with a food counter. There were few but super good looking options. I got a breakfast bagel sandwich and a coffee. My coffee was hand dripped and came out on a silver platter with a bowl of sugar and mini cream pitcher. Wow. I wasn’t expecting that from Turlock. The sandwich turned out to be made from scratch. Super good ingredients. It was amazing! The staff was extremely friendly. I will be certain to come back again when I’m in town.

I was there for first time. Honestly in the first look I was disappointed with my decision about choosing this place. But I was eagerly looking for something sweet so I ordered one cup of Americano and caramel crepe with strawberries. The coffee was good and the crepe was amazing . The sweetness of the creme beside crepe was completely balanced which I loved it. If they put some comfy furniture in the cafe and make there a little bit cozier it will be amazing place to spend time by yourself or with your friends. I will go back there to taste other options on the menu. Good job Cafe Rome

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Café Rome and was genuinely impressed by both the quality and variety of offerings. The Turkish coffee stood out with its rich, bold flavor and smooth finish—an authentic and satisfying experience. The crepe was generously portioned, delicately sweet, and beautifully balanced in texture. I also tried the pizza bagel sandwich, which was packed with flavor and offered a fun twist on a comfort classic. The breakfast sandwich on a jalapeño bagel delivered a perfect kick, with fresh ingredients and a savory profile that hit all the right notes. To round it all out, the strawberry Red Bull drink was refreshing and flavorful—an energizing treat with just the right touch of sweetness. Café Rome is definitely a spot worth revisiting for both the quality and creativity of its menu.

This a great cafe; a unique hybrid of coffee shop and Mexican restaurant! I had the lavender honey latte and it was superb! I read that they make their own flavored syrups here and you can really taste the quality ingredients and the care that goes into crafting their beverages and dishes. I also enjoyed the breakfast crepe with it’s 3 breakfast meats, cheese, eggs, and spinach it was the perfect balance between hearty and filling but not overly heavy. My husband also found his chicken chipotle crepe and rose latte delicious. I am eyeing several more menu items and can’t wait to return and try more beverage flavors and their Mexican food lunch menu. The only drawback is this cafe is in a rather sketchy part of town flanked by borded up buildings but the cafe itself is wonderfully warm and inviting. Cute, eclectic decor with memorabilia from several different cultures and entertainment genres as well as a lot of faux plants and interesting light fixtures. Plenty of elbow room inside to dine but still a cozy feel. The service was great; we had our food within 10 minutes and the staff was super friendly. Would recommend and dine again!

Amazing service, great coffee and lovely ambiance. They have free WiFi and great recommendations. The use of coffee gunny bags and shipping wooden pallets on walls decor was ingenious We really appreciate hanging money plants all over.
